What brings to mind visions of winter and dancing snowflakes more than an exquisite pas de deux from the Nutcracker. Tchaikovsky's Ballet premiered in St. Petersburg in 1872. The tradition of performing it at Christmastime began in the 1960's with the New York City Ballet and has since spread across the United States and around the world.
